Artist Of The Month, November 2018 "Josie Roberts"
"Josie" is an up and coming performer in Australia's country music scene. She began singing and writing her own songs from about the age of 7, performing for family and friends in backyards and lounge-rooms, competing in school talent competitions and showcases. This ignited the passion which brings us fast-forward to the present - in July 2018 she graduated the CMAA Junior Academy of Country Music, mentored by Jayne Denham who is a self - confessed Country Rock chick in her own right, Josie picked up some of the best tips and tricks for her blooming career under the guidance of Jayne and other mentors. The people she met, and connections she made have influenced her greatly, and helped her get to where she is today. At "The Academy" she had the opportunity to write a song with Golden Guitar winner Travis Collins, and this inspired further songs, style and content. One of her biggest highlights was also opening for Troy Cassar-Daley, The McClymonts, Judah Kelly and Homegrown recently, in her hometown for the Townsville Rock Fest. She has built her confidence since attending "The Academy" which has proved to be of great help in achieving her dreams. During her week, she can be seen focusing on her school work, balancing it out with a heavy amount of music practice. She has regularly performed at several local venues, and can be seen busking along the strand when she gets the chance. Her main aim for the future is to get amongst the local live music scene and the next big step will be to record her first EP, with a solid library of her own songs which are upbeat, and straight from the heart. all with the big dream of one day getting to Nashville! At only 16, she is constantly working on developing her song-craft and guitar playing skills, so keep an eye out and watch this space! Nothing gets in the way of Josie, and her bright and bubbly personality is a real crowd pleaser!
